Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 August 2026
Welcome to Status.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Status application and related services ("Status", "Service", "we", "us").
By using Status, creating an account, or continuing to use the Service after reviewing these Terms, you agree to be bound by them.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Status.
1. Who can use Status
Status is intended for users 18 and older only.
By using Status, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under applicable law.
You must not:
- create an account on behalf of another person without their permission;
- transfer your account to another person;
- use another person's account;
- create a new account to bypass a block or other restriction.
2. What Status is
Status is an app for the temporary display of intentions and posts from people near you.
You can see active posts from other users nearby and create your own posts for a limited period of time.
Available post durations may include 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
Status is intended for brief interaction and is not:
- a dating or matchmaking service;
- a service for finding a specific person;
- a system for persistent location tracking;
- a navigation service;
- a tool for building routes to other users;
- an emergency service;
- a personal safety guarantee;
- an advertising platform.
3. Geolocation
To operate the radar, Status may use data about your current location.
When you create an active post, the app receives the current geolocation according to the permission you have granted.
Status does not use background tracking of your location.
We do not share your raw precise GPS coordinates with other users.
For radar display, derived data is used, such as approximate direction and distance.
In this regard:
- GPS may have margins of error;
- the displayed distance and direction may differ from the actual values;
- the radar's availability and accuracy depend on the device, GPS, network, and other technical factors;
- disabling the geolocation permission may make some Status features unavailable.
Do not use Status to determine the precise location of another person.
4. Temporary posts
A post is temporary.
It becomes active after being successfully created and stops being displayed after the selected expiration time, or after you stop the post earlier.
Post expiration does not mean that absolutely all technical data related to it is instantly destroyed across all systems. Processing and deletion of data is carried out in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
5. Posts and user content
You may create posts and other content in Status ("User Content").
You retain rights to User Content that belongs to you.
By posting content in Status, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, reproduce, technically process, and display that content to the extent necessary to operate, provide, protect, and improve Status.
This license ends within a reasonable period after the deletion of the relevant content or account, except where retention or further use is required by law, for dispute resolution, security, or technical obligations.
You confirm that:
- you have the necessary rights to the content you post;
- posting the content does not violate the rights of others;
- the content does not violate the law or these Terms.
6. What is prohibited
When using Status, you must not:
- Harass other users. A post from someone near you is not an invitation to make contact.
- Use Status to determine the precise location of a person.
- Post threats, calls to violence, or content aimed at intimidation.
- Post content containing unlawful discrimination or incitement to hatred.
- Post sexual content prohibited by law, including any sexual content involving minors.
- Publish other people's personal data without the appropriate right or permission.
- Engage in doxxing, blackmail, or extortion.
- Use Status for fraud or deception.
- Impersonate another person or organization.
- Use Status for illegal trade or the offering of illegal services.
- Send spam or mass advertising messages.
- Use automated means, bots, or other methods to abuse the Service.
- Bypass blocks or restrictions.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or features you do not have permission to access.
- Place excessive load on Status infrastructure or bypass established technical limitations.
7. Reactions and blocks
The 👋 reaction is intended as a brief expression of interest or greeting.
A reaction does not create a chat and does not mean consent to further communication.
If another user does not respond, stop trying to make contact.
If a user has blocked you or asked you to stop contacting them, you must not try to reach them through another account or in any other way using Status.
7.1 Blocking
The blocking feature is intended to prevent unwanted interaction.
When a user is blocked, Status applies the corresponding visibility and interaction restrictions according to the current implementation of the Service.
8. User safety
Status provides tools for blocking and reporting, but cannot guarantee safety in interactions between users.
Do not meet strangers in places or conditions that could put you at risk.
Do not use information from Status to investigate, stalk, or determine the precise location of another person.
Status is not a substitute for emergency services.
If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, contact the appropriate emergency services.
9. Moderation
We may review User Content and user actions to the extent necessary to:
- ensure safety;
- review reports;
- prevent fraud and abuse;
- comply with the law;
- enforce these Terms and the Community Rules.
We may remove content, restrict specific features, or temporarily or permanently block an account.
We are not required to give prior notice of such measures if necessary for safety, to prevent abuse, or for other valid reasons.
We aim to apply measures consistently, but a specific decision may depend on the circumstances of the violation.
10. Suspension or termination of account
We may temporarily restrict or terminate your access to Status if:
- you have violated these Terms;
- you have violated the Community Rules;
- your actions create risk for other users or the Service;
- it is necessary to prevent fraud or abuse;
- required by law;
- it is necessary to protect our rights or the security of the Service.
Depending on the circumstances, the restriction may be applied without prior notice.
You may stop using Status at any time.
11. Modification or termination of the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue individual Status features or the entire Service.
We do not guarantee that Status:
- will be available permanently;
- will operate without errors;
- will be available on any device;
- will always maintain a specific set of features.
Where possible and required by applicable law, we will reasonably notify users of a material discontinuation of the Service.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Status is provided "as is" and "as available".
We do not guarantee:
- absolute accuracy of geolocation;
- absolute accuracy of distance or direction;
- permanent availability of the Service;
- absence of technical errors;
- that other users will follow the rules;
- that interaction with another user will be safe;
- that a post will be seen or will receive a reaction.
Status does not guarantee that you will make contact with another person, and does not guarantee that you will avoid unwanted contact.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:
- the actions or inactions of other users;
- the content of user posts;
- inaccuracies in GPS, distance, or direction;
- unavailability or interruptions in the Service;
- loss of data due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control;
- indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, where such limitation is permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s jurisdiction (TBD — pending operator input). The clause above is rendered without an explicit jurisdiction until the operator fills it in. See AGENTS.md §«Legal documents — operator contact fields».
Excluding conflict-of-law rules to the extent their application may be excluded.
If you are a consumer and the law of your country of residence provides you with mandatory rights or mandatory jurisdiction, those rights are preserved and not limited by these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
For significant changes, we may notify you through the app or by other reasonable means.
The date of the last update is shown at the top of this document.
Continued use of Status after the changes take effect means that you accept the updated Terms to the extent such acceptance is permitted by applicable law.
16. If a specific provision is invalid
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.
17. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Community Rules and the Privacy Policy, govern the use of Status, unless otherwise expressly provided in a separate agreement.
If there is a conflict between documents, the provisions apply according to their subject matter and the requirements of applicable law.
18. Contact
For legal questions, see the operator contact details listed in the app’s account settings under Help → About this app → Legal.
Operator contact details (legal entity name, postal address, contact email) are pending operator input. See AGENTS.md §«Legal documents — operator contact fields».
